Reading The Auriga Project at Malvern Books

M.G. Herron · Feb 20, 2016 · Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I read from my scifi thriller novel The Auriga Project to a full room at Malvern Books in Austin, TX. This is a recording of my piece of that event.

I was joined two other awesome indie authors who live in Austin, Jackie Dana and Kate Baray. You can find their videos as Part 1 and Part 3 of this video series on YouTube.

Jackie organized the reading, so A BIG THANKS to her for putting in the work to make it happen. More reading events at Malvern are on the calendar. There’s one TODAY (yes, in three hours!), and another one coming up in March. Keep an eye on the Write It Already Meetup if you’re in Austin and interested in attending more great author readings.

Reading from this book was nerve wracking for me. It was the first reading of my fiction I’ve ever given. But when it was over, I was glad to have done it. It’s a great experience, and a good skill to have. I definitely plan to do more live events like this in the future.

Have you ever read or spoken in public? How do you calm your nerves in that situation? Let me know in the comments section.
